With any type of business property, there must be some type of washroom. Depending on your preference, you can choose to have separate washrooms for males and females, or a unisex one, although these tend to be less popular. Washrooms are vital for any type of premises and business properties prove to be no exception to this, as people will always needs these facilities.

There are various types of fittings and what you choose to have will depend a lot on the size available and the amount of people you would expect to be using the facility. In terms of the male washroom, there is the option of having urinals as well as cubicles. If space is a significant factor, you can choose to have cubicle toilets only, as these satisfy all needs, whilst urinals only serve one purpose. This choice is unnecessary for a female washroom where cubicles will be the only necessary option.

In addition, it is important to provide areas where people can wash their hands for hygiene reasons. Once again the number of sinks you choose to have will depend greatly on the space available and the number of people you're accommodating, but this will be linked to the number of toilets you have. Furthermore soap dispensers will be necessary to compliment the sinks for sanitary reasons and there are several different options to pick from, such as handheld soap or liquid soap dispensers. For female washrooms, an additional fitting that can be added is a sanitary bag dispenser. This is not essential but it can be a nice addition for female employees to improve relations.

Leading on from the use of sinks, hand drying facilities must be provided. There are several options with the possibility for paper hand towels and a rolling fabric hand towel. However, the most popular option is a powerful electronic hand dryer as these prove to be the most effective and need little to no maintenance as opposed to the other options. Another necessary aspect of washrooms is the availability of bins, as various types of rubbish can be produced and will need to be disposed of. This is of greater importance with the use of paper hand towels and the bins will need to be emptied on a regular basis to prevent overflow and the appearance of the washroom.

This leads on to the importance of maintenance. For reasons of cleanliness and hygiene, washrooms must be inspected and cleaned on a regular basis. This includes using disinfectant to thoroughly clean the toilets, sinks and the floor. The final important aspect is the presence of either a window to help with air flow or air fresheners to remove any bad smells.
